I was born in Athens, Greece on February 1970.

My nationality is Greek and I am married and father of a 13 years-old son and a 2 years-old daughter.

I have graduated from the Varvakio School of Athens in 1987.

I entered the Military Medical Academy of Greece on 1987 studying medicine in the Department of Medicine, Faculty of Health Sciences of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

I graduated from the Greek Military Medical Academy and Aristotle University of Thessaloniki as a medical officer with the rank of Second Lieutenant in 1993.

My postgraduate studies included training in Neurosurgery up to 2003, when I became Board Certified Neurosurgeon by the Greek Ministry of Health and was appointed as Consultant Neurosurgeon in the General Army Hospital of Athens.

On October 2005, I have matriculated as postgraduate student of Oxford University, Nuffield Department of Surgery, attending the MSC taught course in Endovascular Surgery (Interventional Neuroradiology), having as supervisor Professor James V Byrne.

On July 2006, I have graduated from Oxford University with the degree of Master of Science in Interventional Neuroradiology working at the same time in the University Department of Neuroradiology at the Radcliffe Infirmary and John Radcliffe Hospitals in Oxford, United Kingdom as Clinical Fellow in Interventional Neuroradiology / Endovascular Neurosurgery. In the same period I was also part-time Clinical Fellow in the Department of Neuroradiology at the Frenchay Hospital in Bristol, United Kingdom having as supervisor Mr Andy Molyneux.

Since August 2003, I am a Full Individual Member of the European Association of Neurosurgical Societies (EANS) and since October 2005, I am a Fully Registered Medical Practitioner in the General Medical Practice (GMC reference number: 6130798).

I have made 36 publications in scientific journals and 46 oral presentations in medical conferences, also sharing a special interest in haemodynamic studies regarding the vascular tree of the Central Nervous System, in co-operation with the Department of Engineering Science (Fluidics and Biocomplexity Group), Oxford University.

On October 2007 I have completed my training in Interventional Neuroradiology / Endovascular Neurosurgery in Oxford, United Kingdom.

Currently, I serve Greek Army in the rank of Lt Collonel as Consultant Neurosurgeon, being the Vice-Chairman of the Department of Neurosurgery of the 401 Athens General Hospital and the Director of the Neuroendovascular Embolisation Department at the same hospital. At the same time I have a collaboration with the Mediterraneo Hospital for neurosurgical and endovascular procedures.
